Diagnostic Ultrasound
Diagnostic Ultrasound services are for patients who need physician-ordered imaging with clinically actionable results. We perform medical ultrasound exams based on your provider's written order and coordinate board-certified radiologist interpretation, so you and your care team receive clear, timely reports.
Common diagnostic studies include abdominal ultrasound to evaluate organs such as the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and aorta; renal and bladder ultrasound to assess kidney structure and bladder emptying; and transabdominal pelvic ultrasound for evaluation of the uterus and ovaries when visible. We also frequently perform thyroid ultrasound for nodules or enlargement, carotid duplex ultrasound for carotid artery disease assessment, limited obstetric ultrasound for specific pregnancy-related indications, and both unilateral and bilateral breast ultrasound when further evaluation of breast tissue is requested. When indicated, unilateral upper-extremity venous ultrasound is available to help assess for suspected venous thrombosis.
Every exam is performed by an ARDMS-registered sonographer who follows evidence-based protocols and your provider's clinical question. Before your appointment, we provide clear preparation instructions-such as fasting or a full bladder when needed-so the images obtained are as informative as possible.
After the scan, images and preliminary technical notes are securely transferred to a board-certified radiologist for interpretation. Once finalized, results are sent back to your ordering provider, who will review the findings with you and discuss next steps.
